Pupil council and champions
At Hadley Learning Community Primary
We prioritise our pupils’ voices
At HLC Primary, we believe that children should have a voice and play an active part in shaping their school.
Student Parliament
Our Student Parliament is a vital part of school life and a brilliant example of how we put British Values into action every day
Our Student Parliament is made up of elected representatives from each class, giving children the opportunity to experience democracy first-hand. Through regular meetings and discussions, they share ideas and opinions on behalf of their classmates, helping to make important decisions that shape our whole school community.
One of the Student Parliament’s key responsibilities is choosing a charity for the school to support each year. This not only helps our pupils learn about social responsibility and the importance of helping others but also empowers them to see the difference they can make, both locally and globally.
Our Student Parliament also works closely with the leadership team, offering ideas and feedback on a wide range of school matters — from playground equipment and whole-school events to ways we can make our school even better for everyone. They help to organise initiatives, support projects and act as role models for their peers.
Through Student Parliament, our children learn about democracy, individual liberty, mutual respect and collective responsibility. They practise skills such as listening, presenting, debating and negotiating — all of which help them grow into confident, thoughtful citizens of the future.
At HLC, we are proud that our pupils don’t just belong to our community — they help to lead it.
Year 6 Champions at HLC Primary
At HLC Primary, we believe in celebrating and empowering our pupils as they grow into confident, responsible young people ready for their next steps. Our Year 6 Champions are a shining example of this.
Each year, children from across Year 6 are selected to be Champions because they truly embody our school values of Belong, Respect, Inspire, Succeed and Enjoy. These pupils have shown, through their time at HLC, what it means to live out our values every day — in their learning, their friendships and their contribution to our school community.
Our Year 6 Champions act as positive role models for the whole school. They take on special responsibilities such as leading tours for visitors and prospective families, showing what HLC is all about through their words, actions and pride in our community.
They also help at events, support staff, welcome guests and inspire younger children to follow in their footsteps. Through this role, they develop their confidence, leadership and communication skills — all of which help prepare them for their next stage at secondary school and beyond.
Our Year 6 Champions remind everyone at HLC that when you live by our values, you can achieve great things and make a real difference to your school and wider community.
